Tamarack and Vibrant Communities host a poverty reduction gathering each year, bringing together the national poverty reduction learning community in an effort to collaborate and co-generate knowledge, engage new individuals and organizations, test new resources, and have conversations in an intentional way that leads to action on poverty.
Many communities are setting aside funds to help reduce financial barriers for people with lived experience to attend the summit. Tamarack Institute is also working hard to assist communities who are able to sponsor individuals with lived experience to attend the gathering, through the Be A Light Fund.
The Tamarack Learning Scholarship initiative is designed to support individuals and/or groups who face significant financial barriers to participating in Tamarack learning events, such as the poverty reduction summit. Please note, the scholarship is only applicable to the registration portion of the learning event. Any additional costs incurred to attend the summit (including travel, hotel, and incidentals) must be covered by the individual and/or a sponsoring organization.
To be eligible for the Tamarack Learning Scholarship, the following criteria will be considered and rated as part of the application process:
Financial need, especially individuals living on low or limited income
Member of a current Vibrant Communities – Cities Reducing Poverty or Deepening Community initiative
Learning intention of the applicant
All applicants may only receive up to one Tamarack Learning Scholarship in any calendar year
As a successful scholarship recipient, we are looking for your support too. In addition to bringing your knowledge and experience to the summit through dialogue with other learners, there are a multitude of other ways to contribute and help make this event great. Please let us know if you and/or one of your colleagues would be interested in volunteering in one of the roles below:
Assisting with set-up and/or registration
Being active on social media during the event
Acting as a learning lab leader or a workshop room facilitator
Writing up a blog or two about your experience - a specific session or the overall event - which will appear on the www.tamarackcommunity.ca learning site. This could also be a pre-event or post-event blog.
To apply, please fill out your information in the application form to the right.
If you have any questions or concerns about the scholarship process, please write to Natasha Pei who will happy to receive to your email.
